1. Preparing the Nasal Spray
Wash your hands: Before you handle the nasal spray bottle, ensure your hands are clean to prevent contamination. Use warm water and soap, and dry your hands thoroughly afterward.
Check the product: Make sure the nasal spray has not expired, and check for any signs of damage to the bottle. Do not use the product if it's past its expiration date or the bottle appears damaged.
2. Using the Nasal Spray
Shake the bottle: Before using the nasal spray, shake the bottle gently. This ensures that the solution is properly mixed.
Prime the pump: If it's your first time using the spray or you haven't used it for a while, you might need to prime the pump. To do this, point the nozzle away from you and press down on the pump a few times until a fine mist appears.
Position the spray: Tilt your head slightly forward. Hold the spray bottle with your index and middle fingers on each side of the nozzle and your thumb underneath to support the bottle.
Administer the spray: Gently insert the nozzle into one nostril while closing the other one. Press down on the pump to release the spray as you breathe in gently. Do not tilt your head back or sniff hard as this can cause the medicine to go into your throat.
Repeat in the other nostril: Follow the same process for the other nostril.
Wipe and cap the nozzle: After using the spray, wipe the nozzle clean with a tissue or clean cloth and replace the cap.
3. After Using the Nasal Spray
Avoid blowing your nose: Try not to blow your nose immediately after using the spray to allow the solution to absorb.
Clean the nozzle: Make sure to clean the nozzle after each use to prevent contamination. You can clean it by removing the cap, rinsing it under warm water, and letting it air dry.
4. Storing the Nasal Spray
Store it properly: Refrigerate the nasal spray after each use.
Keep out of reach of children: Store the nasal spray in a place where children cannot reach it.
Remember, if you experience any side effects or if your symptoms do not improve, contact your healthcare provider immediately. It's important to use the spray as directed by the product instructions or your healthcare provider.
